One-Year Filing Deadline

No Serious Criminal History

Applicants must not have a criminal history involving serious crimes, such as felonies, or crimes that may be considered as bars to asylum eligibility, such as involvement in persecution or terrorist activities.

Proof of Persecution

Asylum seekers must provide evidence of the persecution they faced or fear facing, including personal testimony, documents, and witness statements that support their claim.

No Other Path to Protection

Applicants must not be eligible for other forms of protection, such as withholding of removal or protection under the Convention Against Torture, as they must specifically qualify for asylum.
